Red Lion Spicy Foods Logo Jailhouse Chili

 

2 lbs. lean ground chuck
1 lb. hot ground sausage
1 large yellow onion, diced
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 4 oz. can diced green chiles
2 14.5 oz. cans diced tomatoes with jalapenos
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
1 14 oz. can beef broth
6 tbs. Red Lion Spicy Foods Company Competition Blend Chili Mix
3 tsp. ground cumin
1 tbs. red wine vinegar
2 tbs. granulated brown sugar
1 tbs. olive oil
2 16 oz. cans pinto beans, drained
1 shot of tequila
salt and black pepper to taste

 

In a heavy stock pot, brown the beef and sausage. Drain and set aside.
Add onion and garlic to the pot, and saute until the onions are soft.
Return the beef and sausage to the pot, add green chiles, tomatoes, tomato paste,
tomato sauce, beef broth, chili mix, cumin, vinegar and brown sugar.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and add oil, beans and tequila.
Cover and simmer for 2 hours.
